Show Overview
Sunday Night Vinyl is everything that a true alternative show should be! That may seem like a pretty bold statement to make, but I’m prepared to back it up. For starters, I am first and foremost a music fan that brings my passion and extensive knowledge to the table, while leaving the ego at the door. Being a request driven show, I treat my listeners with the respect they deserve rather than pushing my own agenda. It’s this philosophy that has maintained SNV as one of the highest rated shows in Orlando, Florida since it’s inception in 1994.
Each week we start with a fresh canvas, ready to throw in healthy doses of classics mixed together with just the right amount of the new music with a retro feel. The balance of the two definitely brings a fresh and unique quality to the show that sets it miles apart from the tired “same 10 songs in a row” commercial programming that pollutes Orlando radio on a daily basis.
Sure, Sunday Night Vinyl is Depeche Mode, The Cure, Ramones, Front 242, Guadalcanal Diary, and The Stone Roses; but, it’s the songs and artists that fall just below the retro radar that really make a lasting impression to my listeners. Cetu Javu, Secession, The Lilac Time, Wild Swans, and contemporary synth-pop artists Wolfsheim, all make a regular appearance in the play list.
SNV is the culmination of all styles within the classic alternative umbrella. Reggae, Indie, New Wave, Gothic, Industrial, Synth-Pop (Modern and Classic), Punk, Power Pop, Garage, Madchester (Neo-Psychedelic), Shoe-gaze, Post Modern, Underground Club, and Alterna-Pop are just a few of the styles represented. It truly manages to be an interesting and eclectic listen without being inaccessible.
In short, Sunday Night Vinyl is a labor of love for me, and is the perfect way to cap off your weekend!

Erik Dennison Bio
BORN - 12/24/70 WHERE - A bathroom (stall #4 toilet bowl) in Vermont. WHEN - Sometime during the overnight. HEIGHT - 5’8” or 6’ after a night on the torture rack. WEIGHT - 145 (150 after a drinking binge or during my menstrual cycle.) HAIR - Throughout my body, but all of it short. EYES - 2 blue ones and 1 brown. STATUS - 1 wife and 2 kids.
PHILOSOPHY Surround your world with love, and the rest will come together. Focus on happiness rather than financial and personal acquisitions. Live each day as if it were your last. Wash your hands!
MY ENTRANCE TO THE WORK FORCE At age 16, I experienced my first encounter with manual labor. As luck would have it, I was blessed with a position at a roach infested fast food restaurant. So infested that they eventually shut the cesspool of a store down. Here are the visuals that led to my departure…..watching a roach travel along the outer edge of the fry station only to plunge to an oily death followed by ingestion by an unsuspecting consumer, and lifting a box off a shelf giving way to a dead bug shower. My motivation to finish high school.
FIRST RADIO GIG AND BEYOND I started in November of 1992 at KTOZ 104.7 FM a.k.a. “The Planet” in Springfield, Missouri. Did I say Missouri?? I meant MISERY! A nice place to live if your idea of excitement involves dodging rednecks, and taking weekend trips to Branson (home of has been country acts, and cheesy tourist attractions.) Springfield’s only redeeming quality was a full time alternative station. One of about only 35 at the time. I worked there just over a year, and in that time moved from sales, to Public Service/News Director (we didn’t really do news, but I received the mail and it made me feel important), to Music Director. One year was all it took for me to set my sights on sunny Florida! I arrived in Orlando on December 11, 1993. Upon hearing Real Radio 104.1, I immediately began to beg the APD/Music Director for work! Luck swung my way, and on February 1, 1994, I began my stint here. The rest is somewhat vague. I know that I started Sunday Night Vinyl in November of 1994, and that I produced the Ed Tyll Show for a short time. Heck, I even remember something about a show called “Erik In The Dark.” Can’t remember the details though. One thing that I am certain of is that I am the Music Director and a proud member of the best radio team in the country!
